Lomilomi Massage Lomilomi is the traditional massage style and philosophy from the beautiful islands of Hawaii. Lomilomi literally means ‘to knead or rub’ but is also understood as “the loving touch, a connection between heart, hand and soul with the Source of all Life” (Aunty Mary Machado, a much loved Kahuna Lomilomi). Lomilomi is renowned for its fluidity, grace and deep strength through a variety of characteristic approaches and techniques. These often include rocking, lomilomi (palm kneading), ulna ‘lomi’ and ‘push’ (forearm massage), ho’’onoho’iwi (joint mobilisation), kaomi (squeezing) and kiko’oko’o (stretching).

This ancient massage is loved the world over for its ability to feel deep without pain, a rhythmic massage from that feels strong yet soft as clouds. Lomilomi is felt down to your bones, where the Hawaiians believe we hold our soul. Lomilomi can be experienced as pure massage, for 1 or 2 hours, or enhanced by the use of hot volcanic stones or therapeutic steam towels within the massage experience.
