A baby massage course teaches parents/carers to use rhythmic strokes with their hands to massage their baby. On a 4 week baby massage course I will teach you all the strokes, routines and benefits that each massage technique has to offer. I will give you lots of advise on the best time to carry out a massage and talk you through the areas which you should avoid massaging on your baby. I will also talk you through the oils you should and shouldn’t use for massage. At the start of the course you will receive a small bottle of massage oil and a pack with lots of helpful information and the massage instructions/routines.
Baby massage is very calming and allows parents/carers time to relax and really strengthen those bonds with their baby. Baby massage is equally as good for dads/partners to learn, as it will also help them to strengthen their bonds with their baby especially if mum is breastfeeding.
When doing the massage routines you will be using soothing strokes with your hands and this will stimulate the production of oxytocin (the feel-good/love hormone) in you and baby. Oxytocin is amazing, as it will help you all feel calm and will help strengthen those bonds with your baby. Oxytocin has many health benefits for parents/carers & baby including some of the following: helping with bonding, helping calm and soothe baby when they are upset or ill. It is also beneficial for women who may be suffering from PND (There are PND support groups which can support women - click on the links to go straight to their web pages - Tommy's.org, PANDAS foundation, ANPIor Mind).
